6E47D341-2EF0-45D0-8C1D-3BFCC347A3BC.jpeg I’m in a bit of a pickle. The front drive shaft on my 78 CJ5 was turning while the Transfer was in 2 wheel and hubs were in 2 also. When I unbolted the locking hubs it seemed to me they were put together wrong sometime in the past. The spring was on the outside of the locking gear instead of between wheel hub and the gear. Which to me would force the axle to be engaged. My question is am I right in assuming this and which way does it go? I’m calling it the locking gear. (I included pictures) Also does the the recessed side of the gear go in or out? I can make sense of either but it obviously has a certain way of going back in. It also had retainer rings on both sides and a snap ring on one side with the retainer. I’ve not been able to find much for info on these Warn Hubs. 8C9D8849-8E6A-4A05-8BA0-98C6371480C5.jpeg A5D2364F-4D84-4E61-B8AA-DDC0BD97A8D8.jpeg

Someone ( maybe me, I’ll never admit it ) put the spring in wrong once and I couldn’t get the wheels to unlock.
