Quick question, how much would a stock CJ 5 with a soft top weigh?? I'm towing my Jeep down from my parents with our new Envoy. It'll pull 5600 w/o a weight distributing hitch. My Jeep has to be lighter than stock, fiberglass tub, fenders, and hood. Of course it has larger than stock tires. I have access to a dual axle trailer with brakes.
    Thanks for the help,
    High 5

    A stock '73 with V8 had a curb weight of 2473 lbs.

Keep in mind some glass tubs weigh as much or more than a steel tub...

I meant a all in tact, steel body. The one we pulled off my Jeep was considerably lighter than stock. Of course there weren't any floors in it :D
Thanks so a 6 would be slightly lighter than a 8, right??? Anywho, I shouldn't have any problem towing it.
    Thanks again,
    High 5

Mine weighed 3400 lbs before I took it apart. It was a 232 I6, t15 and D20. That was with homade bumpers, tire carrier, 33x12.50 tires, a winch and lots of parts in the tool box.

Virtually any fiberglass body is heavier than a steel body, fiberglass is what makes Vette's so darn heavy. Fiberglass being lite is a big misconception. I bet that the steel body on my cj5 empty didn't weigh 350#'s complete.
But no reasonable cj5 is gonna weigh more than 4000# with a bucket load of mods

When I got the cj5 had to have weighed to get green sheet. IIRC was 2800 and some change dmv calls it 2900. Oh thats with a V6, big tires, winch and top.

in winter trim, mine is pretty fat. tad over 4000# this is with all bumpers, tire rack with jerry can, winch, 33's, and that grossly heavy hard top  . i think summer trim is still porttly. but i do notice that it is a little stifer in the ride.
