I read your thread about that... i was way over my head!
Unfortunately I was looking at the stock column today and I don't think the material is thick enough to grind the double d flats in, so its back to the drawing board.

    I’d either suggest this...
    https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fla-fr1750

Or cut the tube a little shorter and machine a piece of round stock to weld inside it to form a 3/4” DD tip. Those U-joints are a lot cheaper. Maybe you’ll luck out and the ID of the tube is 3/4”?

Great Idea......That will get him to the first joint. Then , are you using solid stock going to your Saginaw ?

I wasn’t comfortable with the couple set screws and I read about not welding it. So I drilled one of the set screws all the way through the shaft and used a bolt.

So is this the bushing I would use? I have most of the other parts. And then the u-joint slides up tight to hold the bushing into the tube?

What is keeping the bronze bushing from falling out of the tube? I am getting ready to cut my column and I was gonna buy the bushing from AA. Figured whatever ujoint I use would hold it in place?

It should need to be slightly tapped in there.

Thanks! Any ideas where that bearing that supports the column to the floor can be sourced? I need that AA bushing (or from Herm) and the lower floor bearing and I should be done (have the shafts and u-joints already).

What is the ID of the column and OD of the shaft? I'd be willing to bet that McMaster Carr carries something very close, if not exact.

Thanks again! So if I understand correctly the tube is being clamped tight by that inner ring and then that inner ring bolts to the floor?

Yes, and the inner swivels in there a bit seeing the angle of the floor isn't exactly the same as the angle of the column.

I see the speedway nostalgia column recommended a lot. Keeping the stock steering wheel to the speedway column seems like the main challenge to tackle. Any input on that combo?
