Here is a link to the Holbrooks

The Mustang is to keep the wife happy as it is her toy... I just work on it.

Working on getting me a web site to put up more pics. I should have mine done (Holbrooks and Saginaw) in 2 weeks or less.

Those Holbrooks are impressive. Guess there's a whole lot more options than I thought for the CJ2A! Thanks to you and Electricontr for the interesting info.

    Equin,

Thanks for all of the compliments on the site, although I'm ashamed to say I've not accomplished anything more as you may have read in the update portion.

I've been deployed 3 times in the last 3 years, bought a bigger house, built another Willys Shop and had another Girl.

...Is the body still off the frame?

I've also since bought the other 48 CJ2A on the home page which was my new body money. The newer 2A is too complete to rob any parts from so I'm concentrating on collecting what is missing to complete it as a Farm Jeep.

...looking forward to the final brake write-up.

I bought a rolling 70 ECJ5 chassis from the For Sale Forum on this site right before Christmas and having to deploy again. It had the dual chamber master cylinder and bracket so my intention is to install it and then the plumbing. After that the driveshafts and exhaust and the rolling chassis is finally done.

...Any newer pics of your progress?

I promise to get on the above soon and get the site updated including more of the new CJ2A. I'm home now and the weather is warming up. Still need to finish some electrical in the new garage and bring my 60 gal compressor up from the basement and into the garage.

    ...mind me being a copy-cat

That's why I posted it, to help show the how, what, and where. If you get to the right part of Doc Vern's site at Vernco.com understanding woman, The how much I spent should not be out there for the Mrs. to see. What he doen't understand is that she was the one poking me at the auction to keep bidding on the newer CJ2A.

    ...Con-Ferr shackles

The original c-shackles were a little bit of a booger to get loose on a couple corners, and I ended up having to replace the spring mounts that I bent in a press. Next time I would use the Blue Fire Wrench and be done with it. It was a matter of holding the Con-Ferr up and sliding the bolt through-thats it.

...but which frame mount bushings are these? Do these relate the new front spring mounts from 4WPW?

If you intend to go to an aftermarket spring like a lift spring (Rancho, Super Lift, Etc.) you have to go to the later style 2 piece shackles or H style like Con-Ferr, and insert a rubber or poly bushing (55 to 75 I think) in the frame mounts. After that they went to the wider springs. The original C style shackle filled the entire opening in the mount and was the bushing.

Installing the bushings in the frame mounts was a matter of: tap in with rubber mallet and then the metal sleeve with a ball peen).

...u-bolts go through and bolted up to the bottom of the spring pack. Is that what your talking about?

The taper shims go between the springs and the axle. Tips the drive shaft yoke up a bit, but the tierod down enough to clear my tierod clamp problem.

I attached a picture of the ubolt skid plates also from con-ferr from their online catalog. Hope it works.

    ...Sorry for all the questions

No problem on the questions-gives me some motivation to get back on it.

How you enyou the site as much as I did the work.

    Art C

Thanks for all the excellent info! I read on your site about you being deployed to Saudi Arabia awhile back. I didn't realize you had been deployed again. More thanks should go to you for serving our country and protecting us, our rights and our freedoms. :flag: Good to hear another of one our soldiers made it back home safe to their family and Jeeps!
