Lower Low For The 20

Dug threw my pile of parts and found a spare 18 along with the correct Bronco 20 gear to get 2.52 low range in my 20. Have to wait till next weekend to finish. Heading for Sparks NV for work this week

Well it got done last night. Went smooth and only a little grinding had to be done. This was on the bottom of the case where the inspection cover ends. This case did come out of a J-truck. My crawl ratio went from 52.89 to 65.66

 

Nice work....may look over doing that to my jeep.

Do you keep the intermediate gear or you need to use the bronco one?

 

I understand there is less grinding on a J-truck case
I have a bronco gear as well.
I was driving home in my 3b one day when I looked into my rear view mirror and noticed a police officer following me....I starting thinking a brake light is out... he follows me into my driveway
Turns out he just wanted to chat about my 3b, and turns out to be a bronco guy, talked for almost and hour.
2 weeks later I get a knock at my front door, its the same officer, says he has something for me, hands me the bronco gear.
Since that time he stops by at least once a year when he sees my shop door open to chat.

 

The Bronco low range conversion nets you a 2.46-1 conversion. I hope you used the 18-8-37 slider gear from the Bronco as that is the only one that works correctly. The 18-8-58 will not mesh correctly.

 

I used these 2 articles as a reference. I did use the 18-8-37 as it is the correct gear.
