What's the proper procedure for this? Should I have a small amount of endplay or should the wheel bearings be preloaded? Thanks in advance

It's something like .006" but check your FSM to be sure.

If my memory is right I believe the spec is 0.004 - 0.008" with 0.006 prefered. It's real easy to set once you get the dial indicator set up. If you end up ordering a shim kit you probably won't need much. I ordered two and only used about half the shims in one kit.

I asked the same question a month ago, a old mechanic told me just enough to feel it by pushing and pulling on the axel. Some of the ppl here on the board agreed so thats how I set it . so I guess time will tell.
