    You've got an early CJ5 there. The '55s and some early '56s had reverse shackles the carried over from the M38a-1. You will find the C shackles at the other end of the spring up front, below the firewall area.

    Yes, you are correct. I went out and looked at the rear of the front springs and there is a "c" shackle there.
