I've got mallory distributor on my 225 and need to replace the cap and rotor. I checked with Mallory and they say they no long make the cap and rotor. So my question is does anyone have a source for a 215a cap and a 329a rotor. Thanks

Your best bet is to call around local FLAPS or speed shops to see if they have any old stock. I went through this a few years ago. The money I put out for a simple tune-up on this distributor was equal to what I would have spent on an entire HEI setup, but I didn't have time to do it. I swore then and there, the next time it gives me issues, I'm switching it out. Mallorys had their day, and that day has unfortunately passed.

What series is your distributor, a 23 series or 25 series? My Mallory dual point is a 23 series and does not use these part numbers

My 23 series is a mechanical advance only, no vacuum advance at all. If yours starts with a 25 number to my understanding it should be a 25 series.

The part number on my distributor is #2362901, it uses:

    Cap - 270
    Rotor - 310
    Points - 25042 or heavy duty 25042X
    Condenser - 400

    Point Gap - .022"
    Individual Dwell - 30°
    Total Dwell - 35° +/-2°

I can't even find a listing for a 25 series distributor listed for an odd fire V6.

I really haven't found any listing for it in any of the mallory catalogs that I've seen either. i have seen the part number mentioned though in regards to parts applications. Here's a thread where they are looking for cap and rotor parts numbers. Thanks for your help.

Is your cap held on with spring clips? Or screw down clamps on the side?

I had a Mallory and the only cap I could find for it was listed as NOS for $60. Down the road it went. If they are still making caps for these it would be nice to know.

That is the older series from the 70's with a cast body, the later ones are cast and fully machined on the outside, the cap I mentioned above will not fit right. Mine looks like the image from eBay I posted above. just like this.

I need to get some pics. My cap is an Echlin brand. I think you may need to take your cap and rotor down to your local NAPA and spend some quality time with the counter guy.

Your Napa may be different but going to any Napa out here is a complete waste of time. If they do have a part it is about twice as expensive as anywhere else. The counter help were all asking about supersizing french fries a few days ago.
