Does anybody know where I can get a brake light switch for a '74 cj5? I can find then for up to a '72. Or is a switch for a 1972 the same as a 1974?

72 and earlier mount in the hydraulic system I believe
    bullet or spade connectors
74 and 75 are the same
I think the style 74-75 mounts inside the Jeep on a stud/lug off the brake pedal
    correct?

You're right. The brake light switch on my '74 mounts inside the Jeep and has two wires run into it to activate the brake lights...don't know where you could get one though, sorry ;) Didn't I see that someone was parting out a '75 earlier in the week? Might try looking through the for sale section

I just replaced the bake light switch on my 75. Most parts store can get the switches. with tax it was just over $10. Test with a test light to see if you are getting power through the switch. Something else to check is the blinker light switch. The brake lights are run throught the blinker light switch. Mine is a spartan and something broke inside. Took me two days to narrow it down to the blinker switch. Short term fix, I dis-assembled the swithch and took out the plastic piece between the terminals. Brake lights work but still no blinkers. Hope this helps. Walt
