I just picked up this hardtop and would like to know more about. I have read on some forums that Jeep never made a hardtop for 73 through 83. They were made by other companies and available through some dealerships. I am interested in finding window gaskets and the strut that hold rear window open (missing one). I also seem to be missing inner door handle but rest of hardware is there. I would appreciate your opinions. I realize it will take a little TLC to bring it back but if it can keep rain/snow out it will have served its purpose. Ihave doors and tailgate window that go with it. I was also lucky enough small_122528.jpg small0202_152220.jpg to get pair of soft doors thrown in. Shaun130000

There might be a tag somewhere with a name on it. Very few tops of that style were made for post 75 Jeeps. Are you sure it is a 76-82?

When I bought my 80 CJ5 new from the dealer, he did try to sell me a hard top to go with it. I seem to remember they were on the option list. But I also remember that he was asking crazy money for it too. I stuck with the soft top.

Thank you for the information and list of tops. I am not ready to put it on yet but anxious to see how it fits. Needs a little tlc. I have a hoist system that I use for my Wrangler hardtop that should allow me to mount it myself or with another person to guide it. I have a 4x4 across 5 rafters with a chain loop hanging down with chain fall on it. I use a notched 2x6 to keep straps apart.

I looked and did not find any tags as yet. But when I clean them up I will check again.

It is probably a Meyer top, but without a tag or sticker for id. guessing is all I've got.

Since the '76 and up windshield leans farther back measuring the length of the drip edge along the side should? solve the year mystery.
