First of all thanks to everyone for all their help.

I have another question concerning a windshield. However, I think it is slightly different than what I have found in the search menu. It is a windshield off a '65 mounted on a '60. What are all these %^$# holes for!!

Of course I have figured out the windshield wiper holes. But what about the others.....I am preparing to paint the little feller and would prefer less ventilation. I am still waiting for my manuals from the PO. Think I may be getting screwed on that one. Kinda like the check is in the mail.

    Thanks

The groups of 2 that are on the outside edges of the windshield were for the rods that went to a top. Don't know if the stock top was but most aftermarket tops made 10-15 years ago had them. The 2 groups of 5 are the wipers I'm not sure what the others are for but I'm sure someone knows.

Ok, I'll take a stab at it....

The main wiper holes are the big ones, with 4 smaller, 2 to each side of the big holes. The inner 2 for holding the wiper assembly and the outer 2 for the "guard" on the front of the windshield. These "guards" get a cloth lining which will rest on the hood when the windshield is down.

The 2 holes on either "corner" (at an angle to one another) are for a bracket for a top.

Can't say about the other ones.....Maybe some extra KC type lights?

Might be a couple there that used to have clips that kept the motor wiring/vaccum lines in place. Or some footman loops, but seems like those were spot welded on.

Edit - nice color scheme. ;)

Thanks everyone for the help. Seems like I will only need the wiper motor holes then (two bigger ones and two small ones). My American Bosch wiper motors only use two holes per motor.

So what do I do with the others? Paint the way it is and cap them off with rubber grommets for future mods or fill 'em in? Right now I am in Urethane tan/yeller primer. I am waiting for decent weather to paint and in Upstate NY that could be months away!!

For small holes - sodder/braze them closed... sand smooth and never look back.

Thats what I'd do, but it seems final. Maybe the plugs are a good idea...

If you plan on putting the windshield down at all you'll need all 4 smaller holes. 2 for the wiper (Plus the center one) and 2 for the footman's loop. Without the loops, your windshield will damage the hood.

The 4 mystery holes (2 center most holes and 2 between your 5 wiper holes and top bracket holes) may have been for an aftermarket sun visor. I've seen it done this way on other jeeps before..

I filled my extra holes with a few bolts. The head of the bolt is on the outside and just nutted them on the inside. They don't leak and if I ever need to use the hole, I still can

Did you use a rubber washer as well?

I've done the same as southtowns. I filled all the empty holes with bolts, nuts and various washers. If you think about it, these old babies do tend to lose nuts and bolts occasionally on the trail, and it may be a good idea to have a few spares around. I guess it might look tacky to some people, but my Jeep is camoed and you can't even see the extra hardware.

JB Weld, It fills well, if you need the holes later punches or drills out easy enough.

i used stainless bolts (1/4"x3/4" long w/ss nuts and washers) to fill the unused hole when i changed the wipers. counldn't find rubber washers, so i used some black sillycone on the outer washer. a little bling never hurt.
