I saw this part on this forum but not sure what it is. What is it called and what does it do? It is the part attached to the intake manifold just behind the distributor.

It keeps the RPMs going just a little when you let off the gas, to prevent stalling.

Well I don't have one on my V6 so I guess it will be ok. I wonder if they still sell them?

I don't think they got used much on non-emissions rated carbs, those things were tweaked so close to the edge that letting off the gas too fast was likely to stall the engine.

This angle between frame and rear crossmember looks it could be factory. Is it?
    Left rear corner, '71 CJ5, V6 frame.

Sorry the pics are blurry; it's about 15 degrees in the shop. Shivering till this woodstove gets up to temp.

    And how about these bumpstops?

So what is that angle for? Something to do with the fuel tank/filler neck? I've never laid hands on a '71 before.

Jeep lists it as part of the drawbar assembly. "Support, rear bumper" PN 5353453 I presume it adds the lateral stiffening that's missing with the removal of the diagonal braces for the pintle hook.
