I was wondering if anyone had done a chevy 350 swap with a t 150 trans. If so how well did it work out.

The T-150 is a fairly short trans so driveline angles aren't as much of an issue, especially with an 18 transfer case. You either need to use a scattershield with the Ford bolt pattern, redrill the scattershield, use an adapter bellhousing, or modify the front of the trans case to a GM pattern. The front bearing retainer needs to be machined to match the GM indexing hole and match the GM throwout bearing. Be aware there are Chev bellhousings that came off of SM-465 tranny's and they have a larger than Ford indexing hole which is larger than standard GM. The tip of the pilot may need to be cut off of the input shaft as they are longer than standard GM and Ford input shafts. Other than that the input shaft is a basic Ford piece, just has a longer pilot for use in AMC motors. If this is a hot rod 350, I'd stay away from the T-150 if you plan on using it hard. If a basically stock motor and easy on the throttle the T-150 may hold up ok. The T-150 is basically a Ford RAN 3 speed that's been modified to fit Jeeps by the factory. The Ford RAN 3 speed was most commonly found in 6 cylinder Mustangs in the '60's and early '70's. They were used in some 6 cylinder trucks and other 6 cylinder cars also.
I've seen tons of these with broken gears and worn out second gears when used behind V-8's. It's a decent choice behind stock V-6's and 4 cylinders for a Jeep because of its compact size. It's definitely stronger than a T-90, T-86, T-14, etc. Nickmil.

I have a 350 in mine with a T90. I don't beat the he11 out of it and it is just fine. Follow nickmil's advice and you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the input. I think I will just purchase the adapter from novak as it adds a little length and no machining required. The reason I am leaning toward a t 150 is I have access to one, and the transmission in my friends 46 is a t 150 and he has a mild 304 and has run the heck out of it for 12 years now. I know how he drives this tring, and if it held up to all that torture, it should hold up tp mine. At least thats my thinking. I would rather have a t 18, but I cant seem to rope one down around here. Thanks guys

R&P has T-18's ready to bolt in, completely rebuilt and adapted that will bolt to your GM bellhousing with NO adapters. they include the special pilot bushing and top.. They are located in Oregon City, OR which is just south of Portland. # is 503-557-8911. Nickmil.

FYI they also sell a ford 3 speed that is supposed to be very strong ready to bolt into a chevy swap for 650.00. I am gonna go with the t18 just for the 632;1 first gear. Hi Chris,
Bruce in Roseburg. I would like to see when you get it in. I want one for my next project. I'm still working on the 350 going into my 48. So far it's all fitting with out much trouble.

I am gonna head up there on saturday. I cant seem to figure out how to attach a picture to this site though. I am also fighting with my camera trying to figure out how to take smaller pictures, either with the camera of with computer software. I think it has something to do with jpegs, or something like that, just not real computer savvy, come to think of it I am not real electronic savvy?Oh well I will get it soomer or later.

Don't bother trying to change your camera - resize the pictures before you upload them. I use a freeware program called PIXresizer http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm - very easy.

I think there are some instructions on the site somewhere about uploading your pics to the album and then linking your message to that picture - take a look around.
