I'm blowing oil out the dipstick tube of my '67 283. The rubber seal/groummet is gone, but the metal cup on the stick is still there. I realize there could be some oil, but when under harder than normal acceleration it smokes quite a bit. I recently swapped the original intake with a new Performer. The original intake had a the oil filler in the it and the cap was a breather. I added new valve covers too with a PCV valve on one side and a breather on the other. I plugged the breath hole on the back of the block just behind the intake since I was gonna run the PCV.

Is the engine is getting enough ventilation? I will ge the new dipstick seal tomorrow.

Sounds like excessive blowby. You did hook up the PCV to vacuum didnt you? While the engine is running, pull the pcv from the valve cover. I'll be it'll get worse.
Could be from a number of things. Most likely caused by broken/worn rings.

It does sound like there is excessive blowby, however, be sure to replace your breather cap with a later model that is vented. Hook the vent line to the inside of the aircleaner. This will insure that the excess blowby is pulled through the carb and burned.

I had a 350 V-8. When you pulled the PVC valve it was like an air compressor comming out of there. When I took the motor apart I found that every top ring was broken and all the bearings were worn out. The only good part was it never did smoke.

The reason I'm not completely sure it's blow by is that it's not smoking out the exhaust and the motor runs strong and has good oil pressure. I should have been more clear about the smoke; it smokes more under acceleration because more oil is coming out of the dipstick tube and it hits the header.

The PCV is hooked up to the base of the Quadra Jet.

The breather is new, but not hooked to the air cleaner, I do have the parts to do so though.

Sorry guys about the lame explaination, but thanks for the advice.

Try that first. I don't know how much it will help your problem, though. My 350 just has a breather on each side and I have no issues with it. Keep us posted.
