What are some of the options that I have for a back seat for my CJ5? It didn't come with one and there are no mounts in the back. Could the back seat out of a 70's to 80's model CJ5 work?

Later CJ5/7 seats will work fine, that's what I have in mine.
If you can find the fold and tumble one, you gain some space when you need it.

I held out and searched and searched for an original '56 vintage rear seat for mine. Got one from a member here that's in decent shape and certainly rebuildable, but man, the shipping was brutal. If you can be satisfied with a later model one, go for it. Check the junkyards.

Hello fellow enthusiast. I've got a 1955 Willys CJ-5 I'm restoring and I'm looking for an original, or accurate reproduction, rear seat. I'm having a heck of a hard time finding what I'm looking for. Any tips/specifications/photos would be greatly appreciated! :)

I made it myself with an old frame of willys army wwII or similar.
It is a bit high but it is adjustable to use the tailgate.

If you buy one, test it before buying ...

If you need pics and description, I suggest you start a new thread with an explicit title related to what you need.

No such thing as an accurate reproduction seat, AFAIK. Realize that not every Jeep was sold with a back seat, and what seats were sold is all there is - unless you want a more modern seat. About the only source will be a wreck/part-out, and the back seat is an easily removed and desirable part.

There are lots of possible sources. Try the Willystech parts list, all the Jeep forum WTB (want to buy) boards, a Jeep junkyard like J&W in Antelope CA (guaranteed to be pricey, but possible the only source). You'll just have to be persistent and resourceful.

Last time I was in Ohio, Jay at Willys-Overland had a stack of seats about two men high. They're usually quick to respond to email as well.

Thanks for all the tips! I called the sources mentioned, but had no luck. I'll start a new thread soon.

Smittybilt, Bestop and a bunch of others all offer new versions that would fit. Check eBay.
