So after looking for a hard top for my 71 CJ6 for years, I finally found one up in Maryland last fall. It was in remarkably good condition for its age- all the glass, a little surface rust and only one bad spot with rot. Especially surprising given that it had been sitting in a field about a half mile from the ocean for the last ten years. I took it home and dismantled it and started the slow process (slow because of little available time to work on it) of refurbishing it.

I've done some extensive searches and seen some pictures of the same top, but can't seem to find a model or even the manufacturer. Would love to know if someone happens to have one or have knowledge of it. I can't post pictures as I've just joined this site- after suggested by some other members, but here is a link to the build on the CJ page of Jeepforum. Thanks and looking forward to talking with you guys.

See if the door latch mechanisms say Kelly on them. It looks like it might be a Kelly top.

Thanks Glenn. I thought the same thing. Checked and they're Eberhardt or something similar, which was the manufacturer of the latch mechanisms. It looks like it used to have a data plate on the passenger rear under the window, but nothing exists since I've had it. PO didn't know either.

Bam. There it is. Thanks Glenn. I've looked all over but never saw this one. Makes since as the Eberhardt mfg who made the latches was out of Houston as well. I'm sure back then they went with local guys to supply any parts that were not made themselves. Very cool. Thanks again Glenn.

And yes, I'm pretty sure that sucker is 475 lbs. I'm a fairly large individual and I had a hard time moving it. Surprised I didn't blow my spleen through my side when I was moving it.

Thanks Nick. Saw the note at the bottom saying I didn't have permission to post attachments and thought that meant pics. Good to know.

Also, there was a version of the Koenig with a rear "barn door" that replaced the tailgate. I had one I sold many years ago. it was actually pretty cool and it had larger rear side windows that slid open. It actually said Koenig Iron Works on a tag. My experience with CJ-6 hard tops is if you have one, it's hard to sell, and if you want one, it's hard to find. Actually had a guy come up from California to my my CJ-6 Meyer's top. I had ALL the parts for it though and extra panels as well.
