After a year of wrenching on my M38A1/CJ5 frankenjeep I bought last year, she finally is finally moving!

It ran great, transmission and clutch are in good shape. I really lucked out on the drive train being in such good condition after sitting so long.

I really don't know much of the history of it, I think it was rebuilt sometime in the 80s maybe. I saved it from being parted out...

New brake system (added 11" on the front, stayed with drums) starter, coil, plugs, distributor rotor and points, fuel tank, and other misc items got me to this point. It's been slow (I have a 11 month old, lol)

    Now on to wiring!

Always feels good to get that first run in them, congrats :)

EZ-Wire - best option if you can. I've done 6 jeeps with them now, and it's been worth it every time.

The first jeep we drove home. About 2 years later we got it on the road again. About another 3 months, and got the V6 working. Entire all new drive train. I worked for months at a 4X4 shop just to pay for the parts. Enjoy the ride.

I guess the first test ride helps coax out all the potential leaks...

I hope to be where you are in a month or two. Way to go. I know all about that "now on to wiring" part. I have a toggle switch connected directly to my coil from the battery and jumper the start solenoid to roll it over. It sits on four jackstands, so after I rebuilt the xfer case and tranny, replaced the clutch, and modified the clutch linkage, I was able to fire it off and shift through the gears with the wheels spinning in the air. Not quite the same as having all four on the ground. Later when it is done, it will be exciting to have 2 or 3 on the ground at all times...

I think your Jeep might just have gotten a little excited.

I'd be cutting those ubolts before hitting the trails.

First ride in the MB after we got the V6 in, we lost a brake line. Fortunatly, we were in a 500 acre field so we didn't hit anything. A few Cacti my have been injured.

Think of it this way - 'no chunks'... It's a good start when you look at it right ;)
