Tag Question for a 73 CJ6.

Since I started to work on the CJ6 (see fabricators forum) i recognized I only have the VIN Tag on the driver side.

What is missing on my passenger side?
On my 75 CJ6 i had this one, how has it looked on a 72 built but 73 model (according VIN)?
Where can I get one?

Nothing. Your export tag looks different from the domestic tag, but that's it. No other tags. There is a plaastic adhesive label (sticker) on the dash.

'73 should only have one tag too.

Getting a replacement VIN tag may be tricky. The VIN tag is supposed to stay with the car until it is scrapped. No duplicates allowed, legally. It looks fine - clean it and use it.

I think I maybe explained it wrong. That Tag in the Pic has been on my 75. It is sold unfortunately.
My 73 does not have that, but I would like to have that period correct 'tag on the passenger side'.
I did see those Patent/Jeep/Willys Tags as repro, but not the AMC one. And I don't know if this is the one I should look for.

I have the original VIN Tag on the driver side. pls see here.

Repeat - there is no tag on the passenger side. You have the VIN plate. That is all.

A '72 has a color and trim tag on the passenger side, but not a '73. The color and trim information is on the VIN tag. Again, there is no passenger side tag.

There is a sticker on the dash, that you can get from Bear Creek http://www.bearcreeksurvey.com/NOSRepro.htm - Pattern D.

Sorry if I am massively annoying. According to the original owner, ha said so, there has been some 'metalish' plate, but it got lost when they started the resto.
And since my 75 had the Plate as shown in the initial post on the passenger side, I thought my 73 should have one.

What tag to you mean, the VIN, Trim, Colour on the driver side?

I have that sticker on the dash. Plus a canadian small round one.

i dug out some older picture and got to apologize.
That AMC Jeep Plate has been on the Driver side on the 75. Similar to yours Alan.

That plate does not appear on Jeep vehicles for the USA, so I can't help you there.

The USA vehicles have the VIN plate, and the yellow sticker on the dash - nothing more.

This is the VIN plate.



No other plates on 1973 vehicles for the USA market. If there were other plates, they were added for export.

Was your 75 a right hand drive? I ask because my CJ6 is (and I would love to know how many are in the USA that are RHD). Mine is a 1961, though...before AMC. Here is the export tag from mine,
remade because the original is beaten up... (sorry so big)
