I asked a year or so back for opinions about cutting down an original 62 steel hardtop to a half cab. Took me a while to decide but I finally bit the bullet and did it. I have some pics of the work in progress, but first I'll just post the before/after pics. I had an old pickup (Toyota I think) sliding rear glass that I used for a back window. I also added a grill guard that was on a parts Jeep I bought a few years back. Been wanting to add it for a long time.

So you finally did it; lokks nice, was not so easy. Nice rear window.
The countryside is in North Alabama? It looks like some parts of France, you have some rain because it is green.
I suppsoed that it was a dry place.
    Good for Jeep, nice tracks.

I'm nobodies welder, but I managed to reconnect the back to the front taking 29 inches out of the rear/middle. the vertical back piece is the roof panel I cut out of the top. I only had to add about 10 inches of filler panel to close it in. I'm glad I did it, but still looking forward to spring when I can go back to topless....

Nice! I've been thinking of doing the same thing...let me guess--you gassed up on your way to take those pictures, right?

I did the opposite of you. I took my half cab on my 2A, got a hard top from a wrecking yard and welded them together. actually at the time I didn't have a welder, so i had a shop do it. I did all the prep. That was 1998, I think.

You have two thumbs up from me on your "new" half cab. I love it! Nice work, glad you took the plunge and now it'll be easier on you when you want to remove the cab for good weather times!:)
