Howdy everyone. I introduced myself here ages ago and then disappeared, but... Finally getting a chance to get back in the saddle with getting my 1966 CJ5 road worthy.

I think the only thing I have left to do before it is ready for the maiden voyage is to replace my master cylinder and wheel cylinders. However, it seems like the CJ5 changed part-way through '66, so I am not exactly sure if I am looking at the correct parts.

It has the F-134 motor and uses the smaller steering bellcrank pin, if that is also any indication that it uses the earlier-style parts. I am pretty sure it has the 9" drums, assuming my measuring wasn't dumb (which it may be, as I tend towards dumbness most often). I wanted to get photos of my wheel cylinders, too, while I was down at the old shack looking at it, but forgot to bring a jack, so... I got what I could...

Anyway, I apologize for my ignorance, and appreciate your patience with me... Just wanting to make sure I am getting the right parts!

Here's the inside of the front wheel.

Looks like a 60 degree fitting, which leads me to believe that I need these front wheel cylinders?

Here is my (very nasty) master cylinder.

And... What is going on with these two fittings? Is something missing that should connect here?? Is this the brake light switch? If so, I reckon I probably ought to replace it, too. That one looks pretty rough.

Do y'all think I ought to replace all the brake lines, too? They look good and fairly non-rusty for the most part, except up there at the master cylinder where the brake fluid has leaked out all over them and rusted them up a little... What about the flexible lines that go to the front wheels?

Thanks y'all. I really appreciate all your help and advice, and I apologize again for being so ignorant about these things. :p

Whee, the Friendly Local Independent Auto Parts Store should have my parts in tomorrow. It's going to be a cool weekend. Unless I still ordered the wrong things, haha.

That is the brake light switch. How it was originally set up there were 2 little metal clips that held the terminals in. Of course all that is long gone.

I went ahead and ordered a new brake light switch, too. And a water pump and some other bits and bobs. I think I have the right connectors in a box somewhere to get the brake lights working until I get around to pulling the tub to get to the underside to de-rust and paint it good, at which point I am planning to make a new wiring harness while everything is nice and easy to get to.

Maybe I ought to start a build thread..........

Thanks again for your help, y'all.

Ok, now I am confused again!

Looking at the rear wheel, it looks like the cylinder for the 10" brakes. But the front doesn't have the metal S-tube thing on it that the 10" brakes are supposed to have, right?

Dangit, dangit. That thing is too far away to go pull a wheel and check for sure tonight, but if I call them first thing in the morning I can probably get the order changed before the parts ship... What do y'all think???

Edit: But don't the 10" brakes use a different master cylinder? Gahhhhhhhhhh..... ... .. .

My 67 was early enough that the factory put a lot of 66 parts on it. The master cylinder should be the same. My fronts have S tubes however I believe the later models went to flex lines right to the wheel cylinder. Yours should have S tubes on the front, the wheel cylinders are the same for S tubes or flex

Thanks. I guess I'll just have to see what turns up when I get down there and tear it apart... Turns out the parts store ordered in both the earlier and later style wheel cylinders anyway, so I think I'm going to just take them all down, see what ends up fitting, and then take back what I don't use.....

I was really leaning towards the old-style parts, as my serial number seems to indicate that it was built in Dec 1964 and then sold as a 1966... But maybe something got swapped around somewhere along the line...
