Off to work Saturday morning and when I started it in gear with the clutch pedal to the floor, I felt some drag as the engine turned over so I knew that I had to adjust the cable on the tranny between pedal and the yoke fork. By the time it was running, I heard a new whirring sound from the rear of the engine or the tranny itself. By the time I got to work , 17 miles away, I had a really loud screeching sound in 3rd gear and it would NOT engage properly.
I got home in 2nd gear that would engage normally with all inner city streets (under 25 MPH) and it sounded perfectly normal in 2nd gear.

Does anyone have video proof of a torn up system running with sound?

I do obviously but I do not do video stuff, so how do I do that?

My last tranny died 10 years ago and when I changed it out. I did change out the clutch disc plate, pilot bearing and the shaft bearing too. I kept them all for measuring other stuff.

Question 1! The new to me old tranny is the same spline count because the dead clutch plate fits on it. It came out of a Willy's truck and is also a three speed. The case APPEARS to be the same so is THAT my first trap?

Question 2! If I swap out the tranny attached to the transfer case into the Willy's as a set from the truck. How do I put the Parking Brake Drum Assembly on the shaft onto that? I does NOT have a brake on the shaft and it is a dual stick setup from the truck.

The Willy's Jeep HAS The Drum Parking Brake Assembly in there now.

Question 3! The shifting rod is different between the truck tranny and the Jeep one, will those interchange with out taking apart both to look?

And Yes I am the only working on this, tools are unlimited but it is outside on the flat drive space.

The truck transmission should have a longer input shaft(I'm assuming it came from a six cylinder) Than your current transmission.

    But I could be mistaken.

Knowing what engine and transmission you are running now would be helpful.

If the truck is a 4 banger, all will fit and you can just put your old e brake assembly on the rear. If the truck is a 6, it will be the T90J with the long input/main drive gear. That input is what is used in a lot of conversions so it does have some value, but it isn't going to work if you are set up with the T90A/C. And to swap inputs, everything but the cluster needs to come apart.

I let out a sigh of relief when I read the OP and found out the title thread was indeed meant to be automotive related.

You need to verify which transmission you have before we can help with what will interchange. The -T-90 was not used stock behind the 225 but is commonly swapped in.

I second pulling the shifter top and taking a look inside. I'd also drain the oil in the transmission and keep an eye out for pieces and for metallic particles floating in the oil.

NICMIL Wasn't the T87 stock? The one with the less stout gears and shafts?
I cannot pull anything until Saturday afternoon. I do get where you are going with the inspection for damage.

Behind the 225 two 3 speeds were used depending on year. T-86 for the first couple years then the T-14. The T-86 you can put the T-90 guts in. Not so with the T-14.
