Thought I'd share what my SIL and I did yesterday.

Built out of 2x4x3/16 and 2x2x3/16. I also bought the trailer hitch and d-ring posts from AtoZ Fabrication along with the round plate that hold that tire (pre-drilled).

We haven't built the frame tie-in yet, but they'll be simple 1/4" bent into a 90* angle with a gusset, then bolted to the frame and the bumper. We estimated about 8.5" into the frame and 5.5" along the rear next to the cross member, that should be plenty of steel to tie into. There will be two frame tie-in's on each side. Of course I'll have to drop the tank (ugh).

He'll be finishing the front bumper also build from 2x4x3/16 with d-ring posts in it. Nothing special beyond that on the front though.

Not my equipment or my welds. My SIL is a welder by trade, his boss okay'd the use of the shop so we met on Saturday to use all the good stuff. I also got wholesale prices on the steel. He knocked out the welds pretty quickly, it was the measuring, cutting and trimming that took awhile.

Sweet! Norm, if I cut stuff and tack it, could I get him to weld it nice for me if I pay him? Thinking about some bumpers and rock sliders.
