OK...time for a question. I need to replace the rear cross member and the driver's side rear frame. I'm also going to do the passenger side for good measure. Welding is not an issue.
Question-I can buy a cross member and ART rear frame sleeve pieces, but what about the spring shackle mounts?

They are riveted, right? Do I buy new and weld/bolt them onto the new rear frame pieces or do the ART pieces come with shackle mounts?

I also noticed the ART piece is boxed, or "u" shaped where as the frame is a "C" channel...can I even use this?

    Better ideas?
    Thanks.

On closer inspection..those frame replacement parts may not work on a '73.

The frame repiar kits are usually for '76 and later. They have a boxed frame which is much more susceptible to rust than the earlier C-channel frame.

    Replacement spring mounts are available.

I've recently replaced my spring mounts as i went for the 2.5 wide springs, easy enough to do, new ones are bolted as well as I welded the sides. You may want to look at this option if you are lifting the jeep or replacing the springs

So I need to fab something to replace the damaged/ rusted side. I've read a good thread on it...welding up some 1/8" plate.
Looks like a plan, I'll redo the driver's side and reinforce the passenger side. Then stick on a crossmember.
