Are the seats for a 67-70jeepster the same as a 70 cj5? I see there are original style seat cover sets for jeepsters-Just wondering if they would work on my early 70 cj5?

IIRC size/shape is the same, but the fabric is different.

Just a random sampling in my parts manual of one color shows the Jeepster and the CJ as the same part number.
Where about's did you see the Jeepster listed? One of the members over at the JCCA has been having them made.

This months JP has a blurb in the new products section about Jeepster seat covers. They do look close to the seat fabric of a CJ.

weren't the gas tanks still under the drivers seat of the 70 cj's?
don't remember seeing that setup ever in a commando.

gas tanks went from under the seat in early 1970s CJ5s, sSept to Decenber 1969, to the back after AMC took over in Feb of 1970.
Other subtle changes occurred that year.
I was at my local 4x4 guys shop and saw seats like my original CJ5s.
I asked about it and he said that it came from a commando. It was exactly the same as my early 1970 seats.
He was surprised to find out that they were also in CJ5s.

I had the chance to get some seats from a commando and they are really nice and they fit.
On the bottom of the frames there are 2 sets of mounting holes.
One for the commando mounting of the passenger side and one for the CJ5 passenger side mounting.
The drivers side used the same holes.
Rear seat is tumble and roll, waiting on the mounting brackets.
These are beautiful, blue green metalic and only one tear in the drivers seat.

Does the rear seat fit between the wheel wells ok? I'm looking for a different rear seat and came across someone parting a Jeepster.

Thanks! I tink I'm going to have to email the guy with the Jeepster seats and see what he wants for them.

Just to make sure you know what you are getting into.
The front seat brackets in the commando are really different than the brackets in the CJ5.
The bracket for the rear was a fixed bracket with 4 bolts to the floor.
The tumble and roll bracket is not what was in the commando that I got the seat from, but is a tumble and roll bracket from a commando.
