What is your preference "Swing Gas Pedal" or "Stationary Gas Pedal"?

I looking for the pros and cons of having a swing gas pedal over a stationary gas pedal.

My original pedal is mounted to the floor, which I have had no problems even when I'm wheeling. But after installing an SM420 I have to remake the transmission cover to accommodate the new trans, while I'm putting it back together it seems so much easier to put a swing pedal on then finding a good location for the pedal to sit.

Any advice or opinions? More concerned with how it reacts while wheeling as well as daily driving.

My YJ has the swing pedal. I prefer the floor-hinge type on my CJ5s. Seems steadier on rough terrain, and mimics the natural action of a human ankle.

But not a big deal either way.

If you do much trail riding involving rock, the floor mount is far superior to a swing. I could never keep an even foot on the CJ 5 style swing pedal and unintended throttle application is not very desirable when in the rocks.

Even with new sheet metal, IMO, it's worth the effort to build or adapt a floor mount skinny. There should be some threads here on this topic. If a search does not find those, I can repost pics of the floor mount version I made for my 3B. It replaced the CJ 5 swing pedal I used for way too long.

Thank you Duffer, that's what I thought as well but had to ask. Since I've had the floor mounted pedal and had no problems I'll just stick with what works and try not to fix what isn't broken. Thanks for your advice. I'd like to see those pictures or your set up.

I'd do floor mount. I have a swinging pedal on my v6 and I need to add a hand throttle.

I like to think I have a steady foot and I still find myself accidentally punching it on the rocks.

I put in a hand throttle and I like it. I'll go with the floor mount.
