This was before I added an equalizer bar. I traced the gaskets and cut some plates out. Then I just cut some tubing. It was pretty hard to build, because you have to keep the plates against the block flat when you add the equalizer bar and you have to keep the carb flanges in line and the same hieght so the carbs look nice. I used an Fhead exhaust manifold to keep it cleaner looking. I have two repop fhead carb air horns that I'll tie into the existing air crossover tube.

Hmm, I never posted a pic of the final product... After having this done for about a year, I will say I really like it. I noticed more power and the same fuel milage of 14mpg. Just a hot rod from the 50's HAHA!

    And a couple more pics.

Sure is clean. The guys on the HAMB would get kick out of your work; they experiment with this sort of thing all the time.

Only one thing- do the carbs really get enough air flow with the stock filter and air horns?

I would assume so since it runs fine. I don't know a good way to check it.

An engine can only displace the amount of cubic inches it's designed for unless turbo or other method of forced air. Even if it had four carbs it would still injest the same amount of air it's designed for.

Sort of, that's a whole volumetric efficiency discussion that could go on for decades.. It mostly depends on where the limiting factor in airflow is.. If it's in the carbs then you will see an improvement, that is rarely the case however..

Anyhow, it's an very cool setup. I gotta admit Nate, your affinity for odd machines and ol skoolishness (yep, made that up alll by meself) is very cool.. Now get out the brasso and polish the fuel lines...

    I agree-cool stuff!
You haven't had any heating problems from the carbs being so close to the exhaust manifold?

Thanks Walt! I like to experiment and think outside the box.

Nope Doug. Haven't had any problems with vapor locking or anything. I think the stock manifold would have made the carb hotter since the two manifolds were bolted together.
