    Hello all,
Just received my used but new to me valve covers, the jeep had some after market ones on the engine and I wanted to replace with some originals. I have the old bath on it as well but my question is, does it matter what side I place the valve covers? I've looked on you tube a several different V6 engines ( dauntless 225) and some have the oil fill on the drivers side and some have it on the passenger side. I'm not sure if it makes a difference. Thanks in advance.

I do not think it makes a difference because the top of oil bath can spin around. I can look a little later to see if service manual has anything about it. Even if it would be a picture.

however, on my 66 I got it on drivers side gets the (oil breather to oil bath air cleaner) and the oil fill cap.

only reason why I would see someone switching it is because with the heater and wiring on drivers side it makes things kinda tight if you don't have funnel.

I jus remembered something, my passenger side had a oil shield while my drivers did not this might have something to do with it.

Yes you are correct about the oil shield, like you, not sure if that matters. The service manual that I has a picture with the oil filler on the passenger side along with the PVC to the carb. But the holes on the covers ( one smaller ) doesn't match up with what I have.

okay, well some of the valve covers will be different im guessing??. Because some of the v6 had smog equipment, so this could be issue? Not to mention it looks like there is at least two or three different oil bath air cleaners.

however, that is correct the pvc to the carb, then the two hole valve cover would go on drivers side.

what is size difference and do you have picture of valve covers? I'm not sure if you put them on yet.

FWIW my (original) '70 has the breather tube to the air cleaner on the driver's side and the PCV & oil filler on the passenger side.

Thanks for all the info and the wonderful pics ozfin, the first picture you posted is how I have my valve covers on. I feel better actually seeing a clear picture of just where everything goes.

Does anyone know were to find a replacement canister/filter on the drivers side valve cover connected to the oil bath air filter?

    Thanks

Made out of unobtanium as far as I can find out...like so many of the V6 specific parts.

Anyone know what it did? Just a filter or was it something else?

    Thanks

I've called several suppliers looking for it, no one could actually give me an official name, they all just basically do scribed it as that piece that goes between the valve cover and oil bath hose.
some one did tell me that it is a baffle that keeps the oil from being sucked up into the oil bath cleaner from the valve covers. What do you think?

Mine just has a simple screen inside, nothing that would prevent oil from being sucked up if there was enough vacuum . It might prevent splash back is all from the valve throwing it off.
