Anyone buy a rebuilt carb from The king?

Reason being is I have a problem with my bore that my accelerator pump rides in. My pump assembling came apart "metal from plastic" when I was very deep in the woods. I could feel it when it happened in the pedal. Had to pull the linkage to the pump so I could get some travel in The pedal.Well when the shaft came out of the plastic it scored the bore in three spots. Bad enough now it's eating pumps in a day. Tried to smooth out with emery papers and a dowel. No luck.
So this brings me to the king. They offer a rebuilt 2g to the door with my core and 125$ going to give it a shot. If anyone has any info on having dealt with them let me know. Thanks

I dunno about them but I am super impressed with the service I got from these guys.. http://guaranteedcarburetors.com/ The carb came back in better than new condition, sparkly plated and pre tuned.. As advertised, dropped it on and drove.. It was 100% perfect out of the box.. Fast turnaround too.

Karb King worked out great for me

I bought two Autolite 2100s from Karb King and am very happy with them. The one has their OffRoad Stage 1 with extended vents, bowl baffles and a truck needle and seat and hasn't let me down. The other is strictly for street use and I thought its be too much carb, but Karb King jet it down and it's perfect. I haven't even had to mess with the choke. Good value, quick service, but a little hard to get em on the phone during the season. My .02.

Even the best rebuilders have issues occasionally. How they handle it makes the difference IMHO.

Huh, last time I saw a carb that looked like that, it came off of a saltwater powerboat.....

So, to make sure I understand your post, they offered to take back the carb and fix the problem at their cost? But you are not giving them the opportunity?
I agree you should never have received a product like that but they should be given an opportunity to make it right. Many things can happen to create problems in a company. They should at least be given a reasonable opportunity to handle an issue.

First, I've used Karb King with no problems whatsoever. Yeah, they are hard to get ahold of during racing season, but I've always gotten my carbs as promised, within a week or less. Now, my carbs weren't powder coated gold, either, but clear, and that didn't effect their performance. It's just a matter of taste.

And I never got an email at every step of the way, but my carbs came as promised, pretty quickly, considering other stories I've heard about carb rebuilders.

I can't speak to the condition of your carb, but I can't see how Karb king would ever ship something in that condition, so I understand why they kind of questioned you as to it. These guys have been around along time and surely dealt with all manner of customer, dis reputable and not. Not saying you are, but its a two way street and businesses have to protect themselves, too.

The thing is, they offered to fix your carb for free, and you aren't going to let them? That feeds into my last comment and seems suspect. If its not, then let them do their thing and repair whatever damage was done.

But calling a good company out without giving them a chance is pretty unfair.

They only take USPS money orders if that helps you understand the story. It's raining out and I wish I were on the trails.

Re: Anyone buy a rebuilt carb from The king?

I know nothing of the company as I rebuild all my own carbs. My post was from a position of having been on the receiving end of they type of "advertisement" as you've posted. There was an issue with something I built for someone, they would not give me the opportunity to make It right, and bad mouthed me all over the place. Fortunately my good name and reputation overcame the situation, especially when the truth came out. So there are two sides to every story.

I'm sorry you have had bad luck with them. I'm sure I'd be upset if I was treated as you say have been also. But not allowing them to at least try and make things right isn't right either.
