Forgive my newbie question, but will a later model dash panel bolt up to a 67 CJ6?
I realize the steering column is different and there are more holes ine the dash for gauges, etc.
    But will it bolt on?

I am a C101 owner who is helping a friend with his CJ6A. I have talked him into power steering, adding a late model rear tank, and "upgrading" his interior. And that includes a later dash and steering column.

    What do you think?

I don't think it will fit. IIRC the dimensions are different.

And who needs all those frills anyway? R)

There are two eras of "newer" dashes. In 1972, AMC moved the driver outboard and changed the location of the steering column to match. Then in '76 they started using the GM column instead of the skinny column and the bus wheel.

In both cases the width and height of the panel are the same - the main change is the location and cutout for the steering column. I'd guess the attaching bolts don't line up.

Thanks. I guess I am going to have to drag the old dash up to Collin Brothers jeep in Wylie, TX to measure up.
Thanks for the differences, Timgr. With that, it looks like I am thinking of moving towards the GM style column (I know the purists are seething now:evil:). I am even considering a Jeepster column, but then, I am partial to that..:JEEP:

Anybody ever do this kind of upgrade on this forum?

Yes it will fit. I have a '78 CJ7 dash mounted on my '69 CJ5. There are extra holes and as you said the steering column tho I also added the '78 column. My '70 is stock.

I have a late model dash in my 66 also, but I am using a GM column and hanging pedals.
