R&P has built them for people in the past with the shock mounts where they want them. 503-557-8911.

On the '71, I used (modified) B2 skids in the front, and a set from Warrior Products in the rear. Both were effective.

Found a great set of Con-Ferr for all four springs on Ebay. The Con-Ferr product is well built. Bummer that Con-Ferr is not in business anymore.

I make my own custom version. Sorry can't do pics....
They are somewhat similar to the standard spring plates.
Mainly I add a pair of 3/16" thick x 1" flat bars from front to rear just out side of the spring clip nuts.
With my design one cannot beat up the axle clips ("U" bolts) because the outer tapered bars will slide over rocks.
They can't pack up with mud like the Conn-Ferr plates because there is no flat area for mud to rest upon.

Might also put an add in the classifieds. Someone might have some laying around. Make sure you put in spring width and shock location you need.

U-bolt plates with a plate welded to the bottom so there are no protrusions to catch on obstacles. Hence they "skid" over obstacles instead if catching on them.

I have the Con-Ferr units as well. I think, at some point, I may consider a u-bolt flip set up. Might be worth a look. Not sure if they work on my, earlier, Dana 27 front axle, or the intermediate's 30 up front.

Those look like my mental picture of the Conn-ferr product.

The only difference is the shock mount. Con Ferr plates have dual welded shock mounts.

A couple of problems that I had with mine-
The shock studs they come with (as pictured) wouldn't work, it put the shock at an angle, side to side. I wound up using just a big bolt with a couple of big flat washers, so the shock would sit right against the skid plate.
Also, when removing or installing the u-bolts, you have to kind of tighten or loosen them in a crisscross pattern-if the skid plate gets cocked at an angle too much it'll bind up against the side of the socket.

I also just made my own. I just used a 7" long section of 4" channel, with legs down. The shock pins are drilled through both legs and welded on the inside and the legs are beveled 45 degrees both fore and aft. I have been using the set I put on the 3B for 41 years.

Something else to think about is using rectangular "U-bolts" with a plate and nuts above the axle. I am going to this arrangement when I replace my front axle next winter. I think that is what Verne is using on his 3A and can sort of be seen on one of the pics in the last issue of JP. You should still use some type of plate on the bottom to keep the U-bolts protected but there will be no long nuts to get hit.
