Now that I've got mid 60s corvette ram head style manifolds coming, on to the next exhaust matter at hand; mufflers or glass packs? Currently I've got long tube headers, duals all the way to the back with flow masters. I'm thinking glass packs with turn downs for ease and space. Thoughts?

    Thanks all!

Personally I’d stick with the Flow Masters.

I put some turbo mufflers on my '79 CJ-5 that are same size/shape as glasspacks. That is another options. I think they came from Summit and made by Jones?

Yeah, the more I research I'm thinking I'm gonna do a two 2" into one 3" with a muffler then out the back.

If you can plumb it in, try to dump exhaust out the side. Rear dumps allow the exhaust to swirl around behind your rig and end up making you smell like tail pipe. Dumping out the side reduces the exhaust fumes.

Great advice from Corveeper, Turn the exhaust out the side behind the tires. Not only does it help with the fumes, but it also keeps you from packing it full of mud and water if you get stuck and have to rock forwards and backwards trying to get it free.

Will that heat up the floor?

There's more than one kind of glass pack. Mainly there are ones that just have a perforated pipe inside, the other has directional louvers or baffles in the inside pipe. On this type, they can be installed either way. With the louvers (scoops) facing the engine, they're quieter. All that said, I ran this type,24", with the louvers facing the engine on my '71 with a 283, and turn downs in front of the rear tires. Actually I put the turn downs on facing in and down at about a 45 degree angle. I used these mufflers because I had them laying around after trying them on my Dauntless for about two days. They actually sounded pretty darn good on the 283..

Sound like my wife, she's always telling me how I smell like tail pipe!

Mine too. I keep telling her chicks dig that smell but she's not buying it.
