Is Earlycj5.com's red-on-red icon historically accurate?

Is Earlycj5.com's red-on-red icon historically accurate? In other words, did a President Red Jeep ever come with President Red wheels from the factory? If so, what years?

I gotta go look at my sticker now, 'cause I could swear it's a red on white.

Yes - I believe it is correct. Not sure of the years but I have seen color brochures from 55, 56 and 57 and 58 showing red wheels - Im thinking at least through 58 or 59. 60 brochures show white wheels.

I've seen the brochures before, but that's why I ask. Willys was notorious for artistic renditions which weren't entirely accurate. Does anyone have written material which would indicate the answer, such as a color lit showi g wheel and body color choices, etc?

The third brochure has a photograph not a rendition on the cover. A couple months back there was an original low mileage unrestored 55 from Minnesota that sold on ebay for crazy money that had red wheels.

My 57 was bought new by my Grandfther, was garaged its whole life and definitely is Red on Red!

My '59 was a basket case but complete and appeared to be unmolested, it was red with red wheels. It had been repainted so I can't say for sure that's how it was originally but I would bet money that it was. Even though I went for a historically accurate restoration, I painted the wheels white simply because I thought it was just too much red otherwise.

I am restoring a 1959 cj5 right now, really nice original jeep , the wheels are body color (president red) . The outside is body color but the rest of the wheel is black. looks like jeep recieved the wheels from KH in black and painted them red . I also have a 1960 that has white wheels.

My '57 also has body color wheels (green). The back of the wheels are black but you can see the body color overspray on the black that came through the "slots" between the flange and rim. I've since had the wheels repainted but the paint that was on them when I got it was most definitely original on all 5 wheels.
