I have an all original 1971 CJ-5 Renegade with tired springs.
I have been told that converting to the YJ springs will give
a better ride. The parts info I have been looking at only
lists springs for 1972 and newer. Will these springs and conversion
kits work on the "71"? I would like to here if this is a good idea
or should I stay with the original style springs. I do not want much
of a lift (no more that 2") I have 31 inch tires now but may go
a little larger later. I am also interested in any steering conversion
kits that would be available or a source of the individual parts.

A few of the guys here have done the YJ springs. Its mostly fab work on the older ones.
    Time and $.
Do a search for YJ springs and or steering upgrades they have both been discussed here a few times.

Welcome Alan from another Alan. :)
IMO for this sake alone I'd consider new '71-prior springs. But if you're already going for a steering conversion, then there goes that idea. :D

Where are you from, btw? And might you have any pics of your rig?
