seat advise.

Hi, I'm planning on buying replacement lo-back bucket seats for my '74, just because I can't find original seats to re-upholster. Which of the aftermarket replacements will give me the most leg room (Bestop, smittybuilt, rugged ridge, other)??

I'm kind of a "tweener"...... I want as much room as possible, but I don't need to cut wheel wells to fit in the Jeep. If one seat gives an extra inch, I'd buy it.

I realize that not everyone has had three different seats in their rig to compare, but I'm willing to listen to any opinions.

If you're not thinking only aftermarket, and you're willing to search a salvage yard, I bought these seats out of a Dodge van. This was the style for roughly 10 years from the mid 70's to mid 80's. They're comfortable and give me enough room, I'm 5'11" and about 200 lbs. They were only about $35 each, but I did have to fab the bracket just a little to get it to fit.

 

Those are perfect!! The fab shouldn't be a prob.

 

I used boat seats in mine, work great. Plus the back folds forward.

 

I have the rugged ridge and they give me enough room at 6' and 285#
The only mod I made was to remove the adjusting tracks
