I'm working on the guy. He has another piece I'd like to have as well. Got a little side job going on so, I'm having a bit of trouble making the next contact. Thanks for the input on my questions.

Bagged the dial calipers but not the the 0-1" micrometer the guy has. Was hoping to get the pair for a c-note but he wouldn't do it. Can't wait to go measure something. Question: Is there something used to check the accuracy of such implements? A piece of metal machined to a known thickness or, with several known thicknesses to check a micrometer or caliper like this? Just curious. This one seems fine.

I picked up the HF one 5-6 years ago, it read fine for non machinist uses, but I found my old Starret dial to be my favorite so when I did use the HF the battery was always dead. I gave it to a fried the other day since he didn't have one and was willing to buy batteries. We have digitals at work and they are higher end and don't seem to go through batteries 1/4th as much as the cheaper ones. For occasional use dials are the way to go personally. They are a lifetime type tool if you take care of them and worth the $ if you can afford it for a good one.
