Hey guys looking for an easy way to get my 68cj5 back on the road. Would a Delco 10si and wiring kit form here: http://www.madelectrical.com/catalog/alt-1.shtml be my best bet? I'm not afraid to do a little wring, I'd just rather not have to mod the Alt mount bracket. I've searched around a bit but I'm having some trouble finding a definite answer.

    Thanks

You don't say what engine you have. If you have the 225V6 then it will be a direct fit to what you have but you may have to add a thing washer or two to space front and or back to line up the belt and be sure it's a very snug fit so you don't break the ear off the bracket when you tighten the thru-bolt. You will have to make slight wiring changes.

Yes that will work . but you could go to local junk yard and just cut that plug off most older GM products. one wire big red on plug connect to back of alt with your 12V lead and other connects to you alt light . I would go with a 65amp alt , you can rotate alt housing

Why not take the old alt and get it rebuilt? I had one rebuilt at a starter and alternator shop. Something like $25-30 to rebuild.

For not much more you get a higher output, more reliable alternator and clean up a bunch of excess wiring.

Thanks for the heads up guys. I'm sure I'll have some more questions once I have everything together.

So with the 10si in order to wire it you run the 2 marked terminal on the pigtail/back of the alt to the post on the back of the alt, then to the + side of the battery, then the 1 marked terminal goes to a idiot light, and the other side of the idiot light goes to the hot terminal at the key? And, can I got with the 55amp 10si in my jeep? I don't run too many accessories but plan on adding a cb and ham system later. So maybe the 12si would be better for me?
