OK, this is a bit juvenile, but here goes. My CJ had a cherry bomb type muffler on it when I got it and I thought it was kinda loud so I put on a generic "normal" cheapo from Parts America on it. Now I've lived with the rig for two summers and have a better idea of my typical usage. Also watching that Duke film we got all excited about last week got me thinking. The CJ's in that film sounded real healthy, not bottled up.
    So waddya you guys use?

I've got mine from the muffler shop. I've had two types, both supposedly the correct unit according to the parts book, an oval type & a round one. The round one seems to be the real deal, has the proper "jeepy" sound to it. I'm pretty sure the round one is the same as I see in the suppliers catalogs.

Mine had a cherry bomb type mufflelr. It was a bit loud when accelerating but had a real nice purr once the RPMs leveled off. Didn't cause any restriction. I liked it... it sounded like a Jeep should sound!

My complete system (from manifold to tailpipe) is/was a walker exhaust. Sounds fine. Muffler is round.

Running the ol' walker round type, it's quiet enough not to cover up the whine of the Fhead. bought an entire exhaust system from www.kaiser-willys.com for $125 plus shipping or check on ebay.
