Ross box with a GM cloumn

    Has anyone done a GM cloumn to ross sterring box. i know it's not easy but can it be done? Any info would be great..

    I think his question was exactly opposite of that thread. I don't believe swapping a later column to the Ross box would be that difficult. Basically just weld the shafts together. However it begs the question why? If you are going to change out the column, why not swap to saginaw steering. You're going to have to pull the box, strip it down, cut and weld the shafts, reassemble everything and you'll still have crappy steering. The Ross box is what you want to get rid of.

    Maybe he wants the tilt capability? That would be the only advantage that I can see.

    Welding steering shaft is somewhat common with hot rods.If done with reasonable care it'll be fine.There' not much twisting force on the shaft,you can steer a Jeep with a Vise Grips.

    Would like tilt and I think it would look better. I don't like the way the stock one looks. Reminds me of my golf cart. [​IMG]

    That's defiantly not the stock steering wheel. good looking JEEP though!!!

    I still think if I was going to go thru the trouble of replacing the column I would do a snaggy swap.
