'70 CJ5 Seat Bracket

Hi all,

Recently acquired a '70 CJ5 which needed new seats. I didn't want the short, original style so got 2 of these Rugged Ridge seats.

It fit the driver side bracket perfectly, but not the passenger side. I'm not a welder so fabrication is not something I can do, is there a stock adapter out there that would work?

I've just replaced my seats on my 71 CJ5 with high-back Sierra Wrangler seats. Couldn't find anything available to mate seats to current brackets. Had to fab some in the shop, pretty simple and only a couple bucks in steel. A local machine shop would probably be your best bet. Or if you're in the Dallas area you can come over and we'll knock it out.

 

Ha, that would be a long trip to Dallas! I'm in Maryland. I'll try to find a local metal smith.

Just put those exact seats in my 70 CJ. Just cut a couple of short pieces of angle iron for the front of the seat and then made a small bracket for the rear with a pin in it so the seat will still tilt forward. No welding necessary, just some 1 1/2" angle iron, a chop saw or hack saw, a grinder and a drill. Can send you some pics if you would like.

 

I would like pictures, please. I have those tools and skills!

 

Would you like to sell the original seat frames? I'm looking for a set for my '70 CJ5.
