I am trying to put everything back and make my jeep rolling but I am having problem with D18. It only moves the jeep when it is 4wd and L. Any other choice (2WD H or 4WD H) is neutral and it is not moving. I didn't disassembled it when teared down the M38A1. I only separated it from the transmission to get it painted. As I drove only once when bought it before tearing it down I don't know if the problem was bought with the car...!!!!!!!
Is there any idea what should be the solution?????

So I take it that you have the twin stick shift D-18. Is that correct?

I would pull the pto cover and look inside. Maybe the gears are broken.

Mine did the same when I first got it as well. Hopefully yours is a simpler fix - mine required a rebuild. If it is stuck in neutral when you shift to high, do you hear a grind if you pull it a bit farther? If so, gear #45 in the picture may be shot. #46 is a sliding gear, and it slides over the chevrons of #45 to engage high gear. The edge of my gear had been completely warped so that the sliding gear wouldn't fit over the top.

well the problem solved today.... I opened the bottom cover and everything was ok, nothing was missing. Then I tried to take off the front cover #22 at the pic above but couldn't as the two shafts can't move if you don't take off the forks. But as I moved it a little in front I think that something rived and after I put everything in place the trany worked perfect. I tied all the nuts and after I refilled it with transmission oil I drove it for the first time with 2W L...........
I am very pleased... Everything seems to work perfect and I hope next week to get it painted......
As soon as I will get all the pics together I will post them....

Glad it is working now. Sometimes just loosening things up will break a rust ring and allow for normalcy.

Sounds like a PO tried to do a mod.
Normally the tranfercase has 2HI, 4HI, and 4LO.
They don't normally have 2LO unless some one takes out the little metal pill between the twin shifters that prevents driving in 2LO.
