Hi. Tried searching...I have a 1970 cj5 frame (with 1955 body), looking at a Tomken front bumper, but they say fits 1976 and up CJ5...can anyone verify what front bumpers will fit my 1970 frame? Thanks.

Probably not. Almost everything changed for 1976.

The frame height on the '76 up bumper is spaced different than a '75 and older. In other words a '76 up bumper there is a gap in the mounting to the front of the frame horns when used on the '75 and older.

i looked at the tomken bumpers on the websight and they are a pretty simple design a freind of mine runs a small custom fab shop in his free time (he has none right now because we are building a new comp rig in less than a month we got 20 days left as of today) but if you want contact him he could build a bumper that should fit using my 65 cj6 as a template that way should work with all of your parts

he has done my cage and front bumper and rock sliders on my yj (i will take pics tomorrow)

    here is the web sight

Sorry for the delays, out of town...thanks, everyone--sounds like some differences I'll need to puzzle out. Gearhead, I'll definitely check out your friend's site.

I looked at the Daughter's '70 I put a '76 up stock front bumper on. I had to add about a 1/4" spacer between the inside of the bumper and the frame to keep from crushing the bumper in and possibly damaging the frame horn. Can't remember if I had to re-drill the holes or not. I did other mods at the same time and that was over a year ago.
