So uhh, any suggestions for an Oil filter on my dauntless 225? I can't read my old one due to rust, and i figured you guys might now off the top of your head, which would save me trying to visually match them up in autozone. Also, I am assuming it will take about 5 quarts of 10w-30? Hey, anyone know of any good books on the 225 engine? I have the Jeep CJ re-builders manual, but their jeep has a 4 cylinder and there is only a small part dedicated to the v6.

Just have 'em look it up if you don't know what it is. Off the top of my head I can't remember. The 225 is in the computer though.

In AC Delco, it takes a PF24.

I figure it doesn't matter much when your motor is on it's way down. I would spend more/use something else if there was any hope of my engine lasting.

    I have a 225 V6, and run 10w 30, however, I have heard that the V6 seems to do better on 10w 40.
If I remember correctly, oil viscosity comes down to what kind of driving you plan to do.
As far as oil filters, do you know the year of the V6? Perhaps it could be searched.

You need to know for sure whether you have a 231 or 225. There are two different factory filters for the 225 I'm aware of and several for the 231 depending on application.

Look on your oil pump cover, if it's embossed Metric it a AC/Delco PF47, if it's not use a PF24 or equivalent.

Can't go just by the timing cover, although that can be an indicator. The oil filter adapter/ oil pump cover can be different. Found this out the hard way. Threads are different between them for the oil filter.

Also should mention the angle the adapter puts the filter at can be different as well
