I am looking at new tires for my 62 cj there are currently 235/75R15 on it now and that is what ever one seems to recommend.

I can get Dunlop Grandtrek AT 20 P215/70R15 97S for $70 apiece. I am not taking it off road it's just for me to play with Driving around town and things

What does every one think. I would like a narrower tire for better traction's on my dirt road
Thanks a lot your opinion madders to me

By cutting the width (235 to 215) and aspect ratio (75 to 70) you make a significant change in the overall height of the tire.
215/70's are going to a good amount shorter than your current tires too. (26.8 vs 28.9 inches). IMHO, 215/70 will look kinda goofy-small.

For that type of duty I've had good luck with BFG A/T's. Great tire with good on road strengths.

There was a recent tire test in one of the off road mag's. Either 4 Wheel & Off Road or JP.

After looking at other options 215/70r15 are .4" taller then the original but 2" shorter then the 235/75r15 ever thing else is petty close

I realize you have 15" rims, so this might not be an option-

    I'm running 215-85-16's-- love them

Would run 225's or 235's next time.

Can you get an 80 or 85 aspect ratio in a 15" rim?

The tires in this photo are P215-75R15. I liked the way it steered. If I had to choose I would choose 75 series over 70's to get a little extra height. I think you will notice a significant difference going down a size and changing to a 70.

    Thanks Mark
It's a little smaller less then a inch. I did a comparison on the computer and it looked good so I think I will go with the 215/70r15 for the price Tax mount and all 5 tires for less then $500 that is a good deal. J_bydesign has pic of a 65 with 215/65r15s in the for sale thread and I think thy look OK
I pm him he said he would go a little taller The 235/75r15s hit the front springs I don't know way thy put them on in the first place. Thanks again for the input

Here is the pic of my 'old red'

They are a little small for my taste... but It parks next to an '04 TJ up 6" and rolling on 35" Boggers... size matters!
