Here's another question- What are the two levers for to the right of the shifter? I know one is four high and four low or somehthing like that but what is the shift pattern? And what kind of oil does the transmission and rear end take? Sorry so many questions (Newbie here) I'm trying to do a tune up on my '63 CJ5....

    Thanks

    Josh

Yeah, but plugs are a worn dime.

The tall lever is Two-wheel/Four-wheel, (engages the front axle drive when pulled to the rear)

Shorter right hand lever is Lo-Neutral-Hi ranges on the transfer case, (highway speeds when pulled to rear, crawler gears when forward).

80/90 gear lube works most places in a Jeep, other than the engine.

    Enjoy!

Good info! Thanks Pete! What kind of oil should I put in the transfer case and transmission?

    Thanks,

My understanding is you should use GL-4 Gear Oil in transfer case and transmission. The newer spec GL-5 type can harm the non-ferrus parts such as synchro rings. Not all GL-5 is bad, but many are.
