Did the swap a few years back but haven't been super impressed with the braking. Did some bedding in, measured temperatures and the outside of my front discs were basically ambient temperature.

I had the entire system professionally flushed just to verify I didn't have any air in the lines.

I believe the issue is with my install of the hardware kit and caliper bolt. I originally thought the caliper should slide along the caliper bracket, but shouldn't the caliper be extremely rigid in its mount? The caliper bolt has a half moon recess to sit it, but the diameter of the holes are way off, so the only way the caliper will hold still is if that one caliper bolt keeps everything in place via shear.

I reused the old hardware kit, but here is what it looks like.

    Thanks for guidance

What are you using for a master cylinder and how is it hooked up? If you are using the original 71 master cylinder you need the rear reservoir hooked to the front brake lines. The small front chamber will not move enough fluid to make the brakes work right. Go ahead ask me how I know? Also do you have an RPV (remote pressure valve) in the line for the disk brakes, if you did not remove the factory ones in the MC this will also cause problems.

Got the RPV (installed right direction) and the OEM MC hooked up with the rear reservoir going to the front. I did remove the factory ones (screw in & pull out method). Y'all had some great writeups when I first did this.

The caliper in that style mount will have some slight vertical give due to the curved spring but should slide side to side with some resistance. The bolt should have a shoulder that fits in the half moon recess. All it does is keep the caliper retainer (the part with the recess) from sliding out. Are you running organic pads? If running semi-metallics with the stock non power master cylinder then that is your problem. Semi metallics are very hard and designed to be used with a power booster.

X2 on the organic pads, I could barely stop with semi metallic. Organic made all the difference.
