I understand these transmissions are fairly rare. It is out of a 1972 CJ-5 and it is the original transmission which is mated to the original motor (258ci straight 6). It shifts and operates perfectly. What is this transmission worth?

Depends on finding the right buyer. It's a close-ratio 4-speed, with a 4:1 1st gear, not the granny gear. Most want the granny gear. Do you have the adapter between the transmission and transfer case? I'd say it's worth between $150 and $300, maybe the high end if it has the adapter.

I've got the factory CJ T18 and I wouldn't sell it for the world. I've contemplated selling my Jeep over the years but when I think about what it would cost me to replace what I have from scratch I just can't bring myself to selling it. She's a great machine and she's everything that I ever wanted from a Jeep. I suspect that a price would be very subjective. Many people would love to have a CJ with that factory T18, but the trouble is, finding them.

    I came across a T-18a (6:32:1) which had a complete re-build for $600.00
I've seen them go for as much as $1,000.00 or more.

I bought a T-18 granny/D20 with bellhousing for 150.00 last year from a salvage yard -- they even pulled it from the donor vehicle for me.

I have bought 2 t18s within the past 3 years. One cost me $75 out of a Ford pickup. I put 1st & reverse idler gears and a small parts kit in it by choice. It was in the junk yard "site truck" until the motor died. The other came out of a J truck. Cost me $120 but I changed the input shaft in that one. Spent some $ on it. Both 6.32 1st gear. I had to pull both of them myself. Running the Ford tranny in my 74cj.

Add me to your buddy list for all of your 1973 and 1975 obscure CJ-5 parts needs.

No problem if you say no, but a yes would be nice too.
