The wiper motor on the right looks like the ones on my '59 CJ5, and don't see why it wouldn't work for you.

    Ditto

Not sure about the one on the left but the one on the right looks like the one on mine.

The one on the left is just made so it can be moved by hand also. Hence the knob.

Dennis, why vacuum? Unless you are trying to go back to origional. Why not check with Herm on an electric setup?

forget the cheapie wipers. this setup cost me $85 and several hours. you need the following: motor from 71 cj5, linkages from same, add about 1.5" to long linkage, replacement fit'em all wiper arms from flaps, fab a mount for the wiper motor, and drill 3 holes in windshield frame (to mount motor)

"These are 2 vacuum wiper motors. They have been sitting around for awhile and I have no idea if they work or not."

that might be a reason why it wouldn't work... ;)

NO offense to Herm, but the wiper setup he's selling is just a chrome version of the junk motors available through places like 4WD.com (where I bought one for Dutch). Pure crap.

First I had to disassemble the unit and shorten the shaft with a hacksaw, to avoid having to space the motor 4" off the w/s frame.

Then the arm creeps on the shaft, so as you use it the sweep is moving off to one side. Even when it happens to be wiping where you're looking, the blade itself is so cheap all it does is re-arrange the pattern of the water droplets. Noisy as all getout too.

I'm surprised, actually, that Herm carries them.

If you want wipers that really work spend the coin on the marine-style replacements. It'll be at least twice the $$, but the first time you actually NEED wipers you'll be happy. Or go the route that 66CJ5 lists.

Actually...it's probably cheaper to do what I'm doing and swapping to an intermediate w/s with the bottom mount "let's get serious about this" wiper motor.

Are going to buy a new w/s and wiper set-up? Are there used ones available from time to time?

Well heres another. I've got twin Bosche motors on my 58 been there I 12 or 13 years. Don't have a switch on them which i like,(use dash switch) they don't park. I can't remember where I got them(Rossier maybe) sorry. Point being, might be worth a search on the web to find the little motors because I haven't treated them very nice and they're still going.

Yep - I managed to get 2 "intermediate" w/s frames along with the '58 CJ6 that I bought and sold, but both of them have broken glass. Another benefit of the '71-'75 w/s frame is that the glass is a bit over 1" taller in the center..which is right where I usually look. Much better visibility.

That sounds like it is the way to go. I'll start a search for a new windshield.
