New fender installed and looking good. No issues with fitment, very happy the way it turned out.

I took the Jeep out yesterday for a quick spin around the block. It actually kind of frightened me, I gave it some throttle and it took off. The carb seems to be running great and the engine pulls strong. Transmission shifts smooth and brakes work great. Currently working at getting the hood painted and put back on.

Added an entry guard made out of 1/8" aluminum strip. I managed to scratch the paint a couple times getting in or out.

I just chipped mine getting out. Dang buttons on my shorts. This is a great idea I might steal from you! Like that you used rivets.

The guard is a nice idea. I'd do the whole lip tho, your feet will be scuffing the paint too.

One step ahead of you :) I also put a 12" strip down that gives me something to step on. I'm also going to look at adding some sort of step.

I like this idea. Might be stealing it.

The tub came with some entry guards, but I took them off. They were pretty cheasy and had sticky self adhesive which didn't come off. The aluminum strip only cost $4 and I rounded the sharp edges with my bench grinder. I'm going to polish them later when I get a chance.

FireFighter, I laughed because I did the same thing. The buttons on my pants scratched the paint.

My paints so rough that it scratches my pants. As much as a new paint job sounds nice...I don't think I could handle the stress. There's an older Dodge truck not far from me with a great original orange color that I would like to paint my Jeep. I don't think I could/should do it...I tell my wife & kids to not lean on my Jeep as it is. It's primer green.

I really like the entry guard idea. Jeep is looking great. Should try driving it with a 360... my '79 is a little absurd. LOL

Unless it's on stands, I think it's meant to be leaned on...

I gotta get some spray on mine at some point. my spray bomb primer job is starting to patina.

I'm pretty much done at this point. There is of course, additional items on my wishlist. I still need to source a front bumper and some fender flares. Tires are at the top of my list after 30 miles today. The mud tires I have on there are old and hard. The noise is ridiculous above 45, probably not safe either.

Awesome. Looks great and I know you will enjoy driving it. Get some new tires on there ASAP.

Finally got around to adding a front bumper. Made it out of 1/4" steel channel, only cost $34.

Fender flares installed and new rubber today! I can't believe how much quieter these are compared to those old, hard mud terrain tires I had. It drives like a different vehicle too. I'm going to try and get it in for an alignment tomorrow morning.
