anyone running 33x9.5x15?

    Ohhhhh! Very nice. The JeeP AND the wheel/tire combo. I really like those wheels. Still available from Cragar?

    I run a BFG 33/10.50/15 M/T on 7" wide wheels on my YJ. I made this decision for a couple reasons. Wheel bearings and ball joints don't last as long during hardcore trailbashing with wide wheels and tires. Second, wide tires cause more friction and reduce fuel mileage.My YJ is a daily driver and is used very hard in the rocks. The 10.50s have just made good since in my application. I have run them at pressures as low as 10 psi and have never lost a bead.

    So here is mine wtih BFG 33x12.50 on the stock Renegade slots.

    In this picture the fronts have 1" spacers to clear the disc calipers and the rear doesn't have spacers.

    And a shot from the rear showing the width of the 12.50's, they do rub at full stuff.

    I regularly run these down to 8lbs and have never slipped a bead.

    Nice looking wheels on all these Jeeps. I like the traction and stability of the wider tires, but I love the classic tall skinny look of the thinner tires.

    The 12.50's, like in Mike's pics, would never pass inspection in PA without using flares. Even if you could find a mech to let it slide, it's just begging for a cop to use it as a reason to pull you over. Looks good though.

    30 x 9.5 KM2's on Renegade slots. Original 10 leaf springs, no lift. No rub,no scraping and 17 mpg.

    Here in CA we don't have safety inspections, but technically I should be running flares to be legal. I see so many cars, large 4x4's here that have tire and wheel combos that stick out so much farther past the body, that mine are hardly noticeable.

    I plan on runnin 33 x 9.50 on my XJ.. I like skinnies.. lol.. My CJ has 34 x 10.50 swampers that look very appropriate but I'm on offset rims so no rubby rubby.. If you go that way, let us know how it turns out!

    Possibly pedantic, but you could argue that a skinnier tire gets better traction, but has less floatation.

    In MI you'd never run a 14.50 in the winter - a skinner tire with more weight concentrated will bite down through the snow better and find traction. But if you wanted to run the sand dunes a short 14.50 tire aired down gives great floatation.

    To say my 33x10.50 BFG MT perform well is an understatement. When I switched from 12.50 to 10.50, I instantly started hopping up on steps and making hill climbs that used to just spin the tires. I am running aluminum sausage slots. I run 15psi on the street and as low as 4psi off road. I normally don't need to air down unless I'm about to do something stupid steep, though. They do bite down hard - I have spun the bead more than once.

    I had 34-9.50 Swampers on mine when I first got it running. Aired down they were unstoppable in the mud. They also did pretty well at biting down in the deep snow. That was about all they were great at though imho.

    i've been running 34x10.5x15 LTBs for at least 7 years without any problems. minor rub at full turn, and in the rear when stuffed. i wheel these at 4 to 6 psi, and have had zero issues with slipping or bead loss. 8" wide generic steel/chromed wheel.

    last spring, i got a new set of 34x9x15 bias swampers, and put them on stock steel cj rims from 1975. i've been running those off-road at 5 psi, again with no problems.

    i prefer narrow tires for the terrain found in new england, and for the occasional snow/ice on the road. narrow tires provide better traction on the wet granite common here, all other factors being equal (tire compound, tread pattern, effective radius). they are also easier to steer with manual steering when off-road (again, in new england - i don't know about the south, california, or the mid-west).

    my cj also tracks better down the road with the narrow tires (at least better than the 12.5s i tried).

    the 9 or 9.5 is perfectly suited for off-road, don't let anyone tell you different.

    I've run Swamper 34x9s and 34 10.50 15s on Cj5s and 7s. I also run 34-9s on my 1 ton IH 4x4. I like the narrow tires much better on my CJs than any 12.5 wide tire. They bite in better, I think due to the contact pressure. I've also run the 34x10.50 15s on the sand in the Jersey Pine Barrens, and had no flotation problems, so contact press. isin't too high.

    So far from what I have read, most of you run 33" or 34" tires with a 2.5" or 3" lift for clearance. What is Timgr's lift?
    I guess this should probably be another post, but what size tire is the largest that will clear with stock springs?
    I have been working on a '74 cj6 (for too long) and I still have to decide on suspension and tires.
