Never heard of an overdrive for a Dana 20 transfer case.

    I've seen them before.

They replace the rear tailhousing on the D20 with a reduction unit. It can only be used in 2wd. Adds a lot of length to the d20, probably too much for a cj5.

Maybe it could work with a oem suspension....but could be a pain in the butt to find parts for a rebuilt....

They used to put those on the Model 18's. This was before the Warn overdrive was available. Probably not the best way to go. They refered to them as "electric" overdrives. They worked very well and were strong units. But the comments about a short driveshaft do apply. You also loose the parking drum brake on the back of the transfer case and it will not work while in 4wd. These units came from the late 50's and early 6o's cars and an adapter plate was used to fit it.

Not a lot of choices for a Dana 20. I'd love to have an overdrive for mine. But without knowing what unobtainium parts that one might need it's a crap shoot.

    Thanks,
I was looking at changing to a centered rear on my 3a over the winter, and thought this might be a useful option. Looking like it might make for too short of a rear driveshaft though.
